Kory

Personality: Friendly, playful, optimistic, lecherous.

Setting: Kory comes from a low-tech fantasy world and has little knowledge of technology. Although magic exists in this setting, it is not common and Kory's main experience with it is highly negative. I have no objections to Kory being placed in other settings in the service of interesting ideas.

Backstory: Kory was a human blacksmith's son and apprentice until he was kidnapped by a renegade mage (Rupert) and used for magical experimentation. With the help of Angela, another victim, he escaped. Although he was unable to talk, Angela was able to tell the authorities what happened--it took about two weeks for them to arrival from the capital. When they attempted to arrest the mage he lost control of a spell and was killed.

The authorities refused to look into restoring Kory as they were against magic. A foreign mystic monk was able to restore Kory's speech ability, but did not dare risk official displeasure by making visible changes.

Angela and Kory remained in the village for a couple months before Kory decided to leave to get away from their pitying looks. Angela left with him and they traveled together for just under a year, Angela parting from him the following spring. Kory continued traveling on his own, but found it much harder without someone with hands--he had not realized how much Angela was doing for him. During this time he would often pretend to be an ordinary animal when presented with uncomfortable or stressful situations.

None-the-less, he obtained a commission in late autumn to get rid of a dragon squatter on a local lords land in exchange for winter boarding. On meeting the dragon it was pointed out that the land in question actually belonged to the dragons--the lord's manor was right on the border. Before long Kory and the dragon fell in together and he remained, siring several children and living happily ever after (for the most part).
