Gargoyle (2011)
Maryann becomes unwittingly involved with an unusual intruder in the manor-house she guards. (7800 words)
Gelkra and Family
These two stories were written in 2005 to explore aspects of culture among the au. Neither is very long, but both serve this initial purpose satisfactorially.
[1] Customs (2005)
Gelkra, returning from a sales tour abroad, discovers that the customs agent is someone he knows quite well. (1800 words)
[2] A Private Affair (2005)
Having tired of his wife's infidelity, Gelkra decides to take the matter up with the temple. (2600 words)
Rakeesh: Demon Hunter
This series composes the first three stories that were written using my Wor setting. Ironically, the despite being the reason for the setting's creation (even the name 'Wor' is an acronym: World of Rakeesh), the rakeesh play a minimal, even non-existent role in the setting as it exists now.
[1] Succubus (2005)
An encounter with a succubus in a tavern leave George and his rakeesh covered in sticky gunk. (1700 words)
[2] Lesser and Greater (2005)
While trying to scrub themselves clean in a river, our heroes are called upon to save the youth of a village from being sacrificed to demons. (3300 words)
[3] Consequences (2005)
Though wounded and nearly dead, our heroes saved the village youth, but now they must face that most inexorable of opponents: the law. (5700 words)
Sakin Night (2002)
This is a cute little story that I remember quite fondly wherein the princess of a small fantasy kingdom refuses to marry the man her father, the king, has chosen for her. It was written as comedy, though of course your milage may vary. (3200 words)
Seekers of Seca (2006)
This story forms the basis for my supernatural modern-day Demonlords setting, though there have been a number of changes in the setting since I wrote this. It relates how a demon hunter and the demon magically bound to him confront the god of suffering. (4800 words)
Warlock's Lair
Although far from recent, the Warlock's Lair series is perhaps among my favourite things I've written, especially amongst my older pieces. It follows the trials of one Julie Sawatzke and her companion Joshua Williams in the kingdom of Feldspar and after their departure. Like Sakin Night, this was written as comedy.
[1] Warlock's Lair (2002)
Josh rescues his betrothed from an evil warlock, but that's only the start of their problems as they try to escape the warlock's lair. (5300 words)
[2] Demon's Fall (2002)
They return to Feldspar Castle where the court wizard fails to uncurse Julie. A slain demon shows up during the feast to have its revenge on them. (5000 words)
[3] Franor the Tailor (2004)
Some weeks later and many miles to the north they meet an old friend of Julie's. Later in town they are forced to turn on old habits in order to pay their way. (6500 words)
